Shell Canada Achieves EO100™ Certification for British Columbia Gas Production – Brings Gas Certification into the Mainstream

Shell Canada Limited has achieved EO100™ Standard certification of its Groundbirch upstream natural gas production assets in Fort St. John, Northeast British Columbia, covering ~0.47  bcf/d of production.

“Shell Canada’s EO100 certification demonstrates its commitment to a higher level of external accountability for its operations in Northeastern British Columbia”, said Jason Switzer, CEO of Equitable Origin. “With roughly a third of Montney production now certified, the EO100 standard has proven its benefits to a critical mass of Natural Gas producers and their customers in Canada and abroad.”

The certification process was conducted by the EO-Approved Assessment Body AECOM, assessing the over 500 indicators covered by the EO100™ Standard. These indicators are aligned with global benchmarks in areas such as corporate governance and ethics; social impacts, human rights, and community engagement; Indigenous Peoples’ Rights; occupational health and safety; fair labor standards; environmental impacts; biodiversity, and climate change.
