Paul was one of the first people to believe that a social and environmental certification system could have the ability to positively transform the oil and gas industry. As the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Paul is responsible for managing Equitable Origin’s board and ensuring that the social and financial missions of the company are aligned and conform with the highest standards of good governance.

Paul worked in the Mathematics Department of General Motors Research before co-founding Hibbitt, Karlsson & Sorensen, Inc. (HKS) in 1979. HKS developed the ABAQUS program, a widely used program for simulation of complex solid and structural mechanics problems involving nonlinear response. In 2002 he retired from HKS, just prior to its becoming ABAQUS, Inc. Paul served on the HKS and ABAQUS Inc. Board of Directors until the sale of ABAQUS to Dassault Systems in 2005. Since 2005, Paul has focused on philanthropy as an active member of advisory committees and boards for educational and charitable institutions.

Paul graduated from Brown University with a B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. in Engineering.
